Over the Fourth of July holiday weekend I met up with this adorable, sweet and kind family who run their own working farm right here in Frederick, MD. Seated at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain, the farm raises cattle while mom and dad are raising beautiful 6 year old Ellie. Ellie adores Taylor Swift and carried her pink guitar over her shoulder for most of the session, singing away! She has the best smile, loves to dance and sing, and really really really loves her mama and daddy. The whole family is just so adorable, and I was lucky to be able to photograph their life on the farm, and then also a super fun surprise….mom’s 15 year old wedding gown! She had altered the gown and wanted some images of her on their farm to surprise her husband for their anniversary, and I was so honored to capture this for them! 15 years is so great – and with their daughter Ellie I’m sure each day is full of laughs and fun. I’m excited to share these sneak peeks below of this warm and sweet family!

I met up with this adorable family at a beautiful DC rose garden for their family photosession and it couldnt have been a more stunning location. The roses were in full bloom and little C was ADORABLE in his little southern overalls. This family has some North Carolina roots (like me – though they’re tarheels as opposed to my demon deacons, it’s ok – I forgive them) and I was loving their southern accents and perfect summer outfits. This age is so fun because little man C was on the MOVE and loved playing with his trucks and exploring everything. Admittedly he was more interested in the passing dump trucks than the flowers at times, but we had a blast running through the gardens and checking out the stones and lights. Pure joy.

Last night I spent the evening with hundreds of lovely ladies dressed as Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and all for a great cause (Hurwitz Breast Cancer Fund at FMH). Colonial Jewelers in downtown Frederick put on this fab soiree which included cocktails at their jewelry store right on Market St., and then a short walk down the red carpet to watch Breakfast at Tiffany’s at the Weinberg Center. I met so many cool people, photographed hundreds of beauties in tiaras, shook hands with the mayor and pet a chihuahua. Good times!

I wandered around mostly enjoying the atmosphere…but I did manage to capture some of the energy and fun inside and spilling out into the streets. How does that little nursery rhyme go…something along the lines of little boys eat snips and snails (which I have no idea what a snip is but I bet if my son found one he’d eat it) and little girls are sugar and spice. During this session with this beautiful and loving family I kept thinking about this rhyme and how perfectly true it was for these two little girls. They were beyond adorable – too beautiful for words, and had the sweetest personalities. I’m sure they get this from their parents who were so patient and sweet with them (and eachother) and actually with me too! I had a bit of an epic morning ride heading in to meet them (first a downed power line which re-routed me 30 minutes in the other direction) and then my GPS failed me miserably…but they just kept their laid back and happy selves occupied until I finally arrived. I love all my clients and see happy families all the time, but I can honestly say I’ve never seen siblings in this age range act as well behaved and adorable as these two did. 2 and 4 years old?! That can melt down quickly…but these two were awesome. I was so happy to tag along with them as they wandered through the gorgeous grounds of Gramercy Mansion which is the location of mom and dad’s wedding several years ago. It would be a stunning place to get married, and it was a perfect place to capture this family and their love for eachother and life. This is a huuuuuge sneak peek – they deserve it for me being such a crazy woman driving to them!

Recently I spent a gorgeous morning with a beautiful family at Thanksgiving Farms in Frederick, Maryland for a spectacular maternity session. We walked around the orchard in the sunshine and chatted about their growing family as they’re expecting a new baby girl! At one point Dad asked little 4 year old Sydney which Disney princess she looked like (Belle) and which one mom looked like (Snow White)…and I’m pretty sure after seeing this beautiful family that their new baby girl on the way will have her own Disney princess lookalike very soon. Dad will be a bit outnumbered with the girls growing by one more, but I think having another daddy’s girl around will be pretty awesome. Mama is seriously STUNNNNNNNING and I could have photographed her for hours…she was glowing and gorgeous! And then there is little Sydney, who was incredibly excited about being a big sister and is already counting down the days until she gets to meet her. I must admit – I cant wait for the newborn portion from our bellies & babies sessions so I can meet her too!!
