Every time I remember to photograph some of the products that come through my studio, I kick myself for not doing it more often. I must say, receiving the big boxes from my labs never gets old…and I often find myself staring out the window waiting for the UPS or Fedex trucks to arrive bringing me the goodies. I love digging into the boxes of prints and pouring over them looking at every single detail. There is something about seeing your images in print that brings back the feeling of that session day. I get so pumped seeing the storyboards in person too - they are my most popular product and designing them with my clients is always a blast. The mini albums are awesome to keep on your desk or throw into your purse and are always designed for your session. Here are a few shots from one of my packages before it was delivered - seeing them just makes me happy.

It’s finally done! I wanted an adorable mod nursery with relaxing colors and a sunshiny feel…with an Australian theme…and I needed it to fit lookwise and sizewise into our master bedroom. Tall order!

I sent embarrassingly awful hand sketched drawings to artists to custom make different parts of the nursery and bless their little hearts for seeing my ideas through the scribble. I used this awesome etsy vendor for the custom wall decals and I recommend her and etsy.com in general for so many cute baby/nursery things. Janeymacpress

Odds and ends are from Ikea, Pottery Barn Kids, and my grandmother’s library where I scavenged hundreds of really old children’s books. My favorite book is one from the 50’s (and now out of print) called The Unhappy Hippopotamus. The story is great and the illustrations are stunning - black and white hand drawn images with shades of pale pink…so pretty!

So come on in and step inside our room! I cleaned up the mess mostly using photoshop’s clone tool. Way easier then actually mopping!

The bedding (which actually you can see one of my sheet options in the last set of photos - here it’s just the plain old mattress - it’s a good look) has pale blues, navy and pale yellow colors and small embroidered stars and moons. We spent so many nights in Australia checking out the southern constellations and admiring how you can actually see the milky way when you’re in the outback. So, so pretty. We’re planning on replacing the photos above the changing table with either some from our trip, or some of the little guy when he arrives.

Pay attention to the cute shelves and ignore my dirty shoes! The sailboat mobile is another nod to our Aussie trip as we spent 2 weeks aboard different boats - one sailing through the Whitsunday Islands and the other diving off the Great Barrier Reef. Some of my favorite memories are from those trips!

Fun stuff!

And the day has arrived!!! Thank you to everyone who submitted their beautiful nurseries and adorable babies! There were so many adorable rooms and designs…I had too hard of a time narrowing it down to just 5 so I included 7 of my favorites.

Now it’s your turn to vote on your favorite!

The winner will receive:
1 hour complimentary session from Shey Marin Photography focusing on nursery, baby and/or family, and your choice of (1) 8×10, (2) 5×7 prints and one set of (8) wallet prints. Additional prints and digital images may be purchased at 15% off a-la-carte.

Voting starts right now! Each nursery is numbered 1-7 on the photograph.
Vote for your favorite nursery below the 7th photo. Only one vote per person.
The voting will end at 11:59pm EST on Saturday March 13th and the winner will be revealed on Monday the 15th.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!!

Today is the last day to enter for the awesome nursery contest!!

Voting will begin on Sunday March 7th - so tune back in to see the top 5 nursery picks and begin to VOTE!!!!!!

And because it’s Friday, and I occasionally remember to do this post, let’s do a condensed 5 on Friday!!

1. I am sooooooo excited for this weekend because my amazing friends and family are throwing me a baby shower! I cant wait to see everyone! I seriously feel like the luckiest girl in the world.

2. Can we just pretend February never existed? We lost so many days of working business due to the snow, plus I still can see the snow outside and it’s never going to melt…I want Spring.

3. I’m at 32 weeks now and am definitely in the nesting stage. Oh and cloth diaper purchasing can become an addiction…so many cute designs and fabrics, so little time.

4. Why do cats seem to throw up hairballs on exactly the piece of furniture (newly washed couch cushions or the pool table for instance) that is the most inconvenient to clean?

5. I have to do our taxes today. Enough said.

Have a great weekend you guys!

Eeeeek!!! I’ve received some adorable nursery pics and I’m so so so excited to show everyone and start the voting!!! The last day to submit your nursery photos is next Friday March 5th - so keep ‘em coming!!!

And if you didnt see the update on facebook - due to popular demand I’ve expanded the age range for babies able to enter from newborn up to 2 years! So if you have a cute nursery and an adorable baby (which I know you all do!) then send in your pics!

And since no post is great without a photo - here is one that I am working on today that just makes me happy.
