Well, sort of. Heath first showed off his rolling skills at 2 months while playing on his activity mat…but then nothing - not even rocking or tilting - for the next two months. But today, on his 4 month birthday, he decided to pull this little stunt in the middle of my attempt at some 4 month photos.

Oops. I should have known better than to attempt these without a spotter…I remember all too clearly when he was 10 days old (on Mother’s Day no less) me taking him out to do some photos in a basket and he TIPPED OVER and fell on his head. He was totally fine; I was scarred for life.

So of course, just like old times, Heath decided to reach his next milestone in a grassy field with an awkward landing.

I cant believe he’s 4 months old…

Life has been busy in our house - with a vacation to Indianapolis and lots of work within the past few weeks, it’s been crazy but fun. This week we took a fun break and met up with fellow photographer friends Susan of Pretty Petal Studio and Kelly of Kel Photo for a picnic at the beach. The kids had a blast and while the intent was for us to take some photographs, sadly mine didnt even make it out of the camera bag. Luckily they took some beautiful images of Heath that I’m excited to share here - first up is Susan’s.

Yes my child is pale. Yes he is a bit plump. Yes he is eating sand.

And here are two from Kelly:
He looks like a dorky old man here, but I love him.

I’ve totally been slacking on taking and posting photos of Heath…and you all have called me out on it over email, comments, etc! Sorry!!!! I know he’s a cutie and I get to see his adorable face every day, so I’ll try to do a better job of sharing him here too! He had his first few vaccines which seemed to go well, and while he had about 2 weeks of sleeping through the night, he’s blessed us with a month of 3am wake up calls. Lovely. Life is getting into a new normal though, and life with a baby is now all I seem to be able to remember. He wakes us up with a smile every morning, reaches for toys/necklaces/hair and PULLS, and is super close to being able to roll over. We’re so in love with this little face!!

Oh yeah, and he’s 16.5 pounds and wearing 12 month clothes…at 3 months old. Help me.

Here are just some recent happy faces from Heath:

I realized that I didnt have a single family photo of us all together since in the hospital…which trust me, no one wants to see. In said photo, my face was a lovely shade of gray, my whole body swollen with IV fluids, and Dave had a shell shocked expression. In fact now that I think of it, maybe I should just throw that photo away.

This brings us to an impromptu quick family photosession we scrounged up. I was in the middle of grilling outside when I noticed a storm rolling in and some yummy fading light, so I grabbed my camera and set up the settings for my mom to take - and finally I’m in FRONT of the camera in some!!! I cant tell you how excited I am about that - I never get in any photos so I’m happy Heath has these of him and his mama, and I love the ones of us as a family. I hope he looks back at these someday and realizes how much we love him.

And yeah I totally burned the grilled chicken.

I’m just now getting around to uploading these images from last weekend at the Bay. It was our first vacation since having Heath and it was sooooo nice to get away. Saturday’s weather wasnt great but we made the most of it by relaxing indoors, drinking sangria and listening to music. Sunday’s weather though was beautiful and the girls headed down to catch some sun by the shore while the guys played golf…typical. Heath did great (we were a bit nervous about his first night away from his crib) and it gave us some new found confidence in taking some more trips in the future. Good times!!
