Happy Birthday Cooper!!!

April 18, 2009

Wow it’s been a year. I honestly can’t believe it – this little guy who I’ve known since he was a glimmer in his mama and daddy’s eyes, is now a walking, talking 1 year old! He says uh-oh and a host of other adorable words, along with a couple steps here and there. He’s like his parents in that – thoughtful, purposeful…you can tell he wants to do it only if he can do it right.  He’s growing into a wonderful little boy.  :)
Cooper’s birthday has a second signficance to me – other than that he’s my favorite little buddy! His birthday marks the 1 year anniversary of me going on this photography journey. My first ever photo session was of his parents for their maternity shoot, and I’ve been the lucky photographer who got to document his first year along the way. I have to say he made it easy on me…he is quite the adorable baby. I guess in many ways, both Cooper and I have both grown a lot this past year.

Happy Birthday buddy – we love you!!!

5 on Friday!

April 17, 2009

So glad it’s Friday!!!!

1.  The weather is yummy….I considered busting out the flip flops.  Supposed to be tipping the 70 mark today….think I’ll meet some friends out after work to soak it all in!

2. So I thought it would be a great idea to get these things called “red, white and blue trays”…basically a mini version of invisalign trays which are clear retainers/braces.  Yeah……not loving them!  I know I have to get used to them but I am so annoyed feeling them in my mouth all day long.  Why do I care about teeny tiny spaces in my teeth?  This better be worth it in the end!

3. Dave scored a 92 on his licensing exam – I’m sure he wasnt thrilled when I asked him “is that good?”  For the record – yes it’s very very good.

4. I’m super excited for the Rathskeller biergarten to open up in Indy – it’s my favorite place to go during the summer months to listen to live music and enjoy awesome German food/drinks.  I checked to see if they’d be open today but of course they’re not – one more week to wait!

5. Also super excited for the farmers markets to open up again with their produce.  Indiana tomatoes and corn are my favorites – not much compares to fresh off the vine produce around here.  We have some awesome organic farms right up the road so it’s easy to indulge.  Dave’s favorite is a caprese salad which I make with fresh sliced tomatoes, fresh mozzarella cheese and shredded fresh basil – topped with salt/pepper and a splash of balsamic vinegar and olive oil.  Mmmmmm!!!

Have a great weekend!!!

Good times! Our weekend in DC was great – EXCEPT for the downpour of rain we got which messed up a few of our plans. No monuments tour, and no photo session (Sara we’ll make it up next time I’m in town!!) but I did manage to snag a few pics of my beautiful mom right before the rain wiped out the cherry blossoms. Happy Easter everyone!!

5 on Friday!

April 10, 2009

1. We’re flying to DC today!!! Well technically I fly into Baltimore, drive to Frederick to visit the fam, then onto DC to check out the cherry blossoms, then back to Baltimore. A whirlwind trip as usual – seems to be how we roll. ;) The weather should be perfect for our trip even though it’s calling for a bit of rain on Saturday.

2. Dave and I are planning to FINALLY check out the monuments in DC this weekend. How could I have grown up right outside DC and never have seen most of the monuments? Ridiculous! I’m planning to bring my camera along so hopefully I’ll get some great shots – nothing beats DC in the spring. :)

3. My grandfather had surgery this week to have a double knee replacement and he’s doing great!! Medicine is amazing isnt it…my grandfather is in his 70′s and still works full time…but walking so much over all the years really did a number on his knees, and after speaking with AJ (Dave’s brother and the world’s greatest orthopedic surgeon) he decided to go forward with his knee replacement. I cant imagine going into surgery with constant leg pain and waking up with that pain completely gone. Incredible!!!

4. Easter is this weekend and I am debating on what dessert to make. I think I’ve decided on cupcakes but I cant decide between carrot cake or coconut. Ahhh the decisions that I am forced to make – what a rough life. ;)

5. This is pretty random but have you guys seen those smart cars? I was passed yesterday on the highway by one of those baby’s…they had to be going 90 MPH…insane! I have no idea if they are safe or not but if I lived in a big city I would totally get one…can you imagine the parking opportunities you’d have!?

Have a great weekend everyone!!! Happy Easter!

Gorgeous senior!

April 4, 2009

This afternoon I spent the day with the BEAUTIFUL and super fun senior, Maddie – to say she is photogenic is the understatement of the century! The greatest part is she is totally down to earth and her family rocks too! Her two sisters and her dad helped us trek around downtown Indy and except for 1 near-miss attack of some rogue pigeons, we all made it through unscathed! :) Maddie thanks so much for an awesome shoot!!! Enjoy your sneak peeks!
